I meet a lot of people who are afraid to show their emotions. This can often be from not being able to show emotions as a child, maybe if we got upset about something we might have been called a ‘cry baby’ What can then happen is to stop people feeling upset with us or reject us we keep our feelings under wraps.
Roll on the years we try our best to avoid upsetting others or do everything we can to stop ourselves showing others that we’re upset. It’s like we wear a mask to show how strong we are. This can work but it can be very stressful and imagine what all the built up emotions are doing stored up inside our body.
Emotions are a guide to point us towards something that needs attention within ourselves and it’s sometimes referred to as ‘energy in motion.’ When you feel any emotions ask yourself, ‘What am I really feeling?’ and the underyling thoughts and beliefs coming to the surface e.g. Nobody cares about me OR I’ll never be good enough. Often when we’re triggered by a person or situation it’s something within us brought to the surface….so it’s an invitation for us to give it the attention it needs.
This is great news as we’re programmed to point the finger outwards at others, but this is great news as we can’t change people but we can see it as an opportunity to clear something within ourselves.
